Tillery, NC – The Concerned Citizens of Tillery (CCT) has been awarded the first grant from The Foundation for DO! In the letter of notification, CCT was informed that the organization was the “inaugural grantee” from the foundation and that CCT was selected “to help advance the numerous grassroots efforts your organization does for the citizens of Halifax County.”

The mission of Concerned Citizens of Tillery is “to promote and improve the social, economic, and educational welfare of the citizens of Tillery and the surrounding community area through the self-development of its members.” The vision of the organization is an empowered, sustainable community where we build on our natural, historic and cultural resources to promote economic independence, a healthy and environmentally sound life, the development of heritage and agricultural tourism that honors and celebrates the spirit and fortitude of Tillery, and an enhanced quality of life through our own outside participation in conferences, retreats, seminars and other educational activities.”

The Foundation for DO! supports projects that, in the words of the organization’s mission statement, states, “Do positive high impact things for those they serve.” The foundation is funded by profits from The Little Book of Do authored by Kel Landis, III and is a “practical guide for how we can act on our passions, achieve our goals and live a life of purpose.”
